New name for Norsk Stein

Norsk Stein has been part of the Mibau Stema Group since 1995. In springtime, the company undergoes a name change to Mibau Stema Norge AS. The new name enhances its association with the parent company, Mibau Stema Group.

Jelsa, 19 April 2024. Norsk Stein is one of the leading manufacturers of gravel and stone materials in Europe. As part of a comprehensive rebranding approach, all aspects of the company will be bundled with immediate effect, and all activities will be advanced within the Mibau Stema Group in future. In this context, Norsk Stein is to be renamed Mibau Stema Norge. The Mibau Stema Group is majority-owned by the German DAX Group Heidelberg Materials AG, with the remaining shares being held by the founding family Hartmann.

Norsk Stein is firmly established as an important employer in the Rogaland region: founded in 1987, the company has been supporting sport teams, schools and community activities for years, while also deploying sustainable rock extraction solutions. Even after the change of name, the producer of construction raw materials will continue to operate as before – just officially as part of the Mibau Stema Group.

This year, the company is sponsoring the popular cycling race "Tour of Norway". The race goes right past the quarry at Jelsa on 24 May - "It is very important for us to show our colleagues that even though a new name is established with Mibau Stema Group, we continue our work with the values that characterise Norsk Stein," says Claus Boisen, CEO of Mibau Stema Group .

This realignment effort as a Group is part of a transformation process that the Mibau Stema Group started at the beginning of 2022 and will comprise all of the Group’s operating units and subsidiaries. These include the sales companies in the respective countries, as well as the production companies in Norway and the Group’s internal logistics centre based in Denmark.

About the Mibau Stema Group

The Mibau Stema Group is one of the largest suppliers of mineral building materials in Northern Europe, and enjoys a presence in seven European countries with over 400 employees. The quarries – which are located exclusively in Norway – produce roughly 17 million tonnes of high-quality aggregates every year.

These materials are used for the construction of infrastructure projects: be it roads, railway lines, tunnels, bridges, offshore structures and coastal protection projects as well as building construction.

The Mibau Stema Group’s portfolio also includes sand and gravel. This material is extracted in cooperation with the gravel works of Heidelberg Material, as well as in our own sand pits in Denmark.
