Infrastructure
backAIRBUS extension at Finkenwerder (Germany)
The European Airbus A380 project was to come to Hamburg, so the Hamburg ReGe accomplished the largest industrial expansion the city had ever seen: extending the Airbus facilities in the Mühlenberger Loch river terrain and lengthening the runway.
In detail...
- 170 ha reclaimed land
- 12 million m³ of sand shipped in
- Raising the land by 5 metres
- Lengthening the runway by 589 metres to the south and 309 metres to the north
- Broadening the runway from 45 to 60 metres
- Extending safety areas from 100 to 150 metres
